COTTAGE BOOK CLUB
How’s your mental game? Some days the best practice isn’t found on the course or the range. Sometimes it’s good to look under the hood and remember that golf is very much a mental game. Here are a few of my favorites for finding inspiration, remembering my mission, and dialing in my mental focus on the course.
STRONG IS THE NEW PRETTY
by Kate T Parker
A Celebration of Girls Being Themselves
I keep this book visible in my house at all times to remind myself that the best compliments I can give my daughters are: I can tell how strong you are when I see you on the monkey bars. I noticed how you figured that out on your own today. Tell me more about what you’re doing - it looks like you’re having a lot of fun.
WOLFPACK
by Abby Wambach
How to Come Together, Unleash Our Power, and Change the Game
“If we keep playing by the old rules, we will never change the game” - Abby speaks directly to my heart here. You can pick up this book and flip to any chapter for instant inspiration, motivation and fire. Whenever I feel this is all too much to take on and the doubts creep in, I remember my favorite line in the book: ”Failure means your finally IN the game” and I keep going.
EXTRAORDINARY GOLF
by Fred Shoemaker
The Art of the Possible
This is an oldy and a goody. This book has been instrumental for me at many points of my golf career. Fred shows us how to switch our focus from what’s wrong to what’s possible. Playing without fear can be liberating and thrilling. There is freedom in vulnerability and I’m here to tell you, it will make you a better golfer and human.
