A GOLF TRIP
It was a spring weekend and we had a birthday to celebrate. As the weather started getting better in Oregon everyone was itching for a golf weekend. The birthday girl, Arlene, set the ball in motion with a 48 hour golf getaway to Gearhart, OR. She gathered her troops and we ended up with 16 women between 3 houses.
Friday afternoon kicked off the weekend with a 9-hole modified net skins game at Gearhart Golf Links in the coastal drizzle. After dinner at The Sandtrap, we stopped by The Wall to grab a nightcap with the locals and then everyone hit the hot tubs to prepare for Saturday.
The next day was an 18-hole Solheim Cup style team game. We announced the teams the night before by handing out white or black PORT or LAND hats. The morning started with Bloody Mary brunch at Astoria Country Club and a hotly contested team match. The head-to-head gross match-ups started with two PGA Professionals facing off and then zippered down to our anchor-women, two 30-handicaps grinding to the end. The morning fog lifted, the white hats won, and we all gathered for coolers on the patio. The night turned to a seafood dinner in seaside, bubbles on the prom, and a late night dance party at the Beach Club.
If you haven’t taken a girls golf trip, I highly suggest you find a crew and plan a weekend. The memories, laughs and friendships will last a lifetime. If you need help looking, you can keep an eye on our events page for upcoming trips or destination and itinerary ideas.
